Privacy policy
Verbatim is built so that there is nothing to collect. This page explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your data.
Everything runs on your Mac
Transcription, speaker detection and AI formatting all run on your own computer, using models stored on your disk. Your audio, video and transcripts are never uploaded anywhere. There is no Verbatim server.
No accounts, no tracking
- Verbatim has no sign-in and no user accounts.
- It contains no analytics, advertising, crash reporting or telemetry of any kind, from us or from third-party code.
- It does not read your contacts, calendar, location, microphone or camera. It only opens the files you give it.
Model downloads
The built-in speech model works offline from the first launch. Two optional features, AI formatting and speaker detection, need additional model files. The app asks before downloading them and fetches them from huggingface.co, a public model repository. As with any web download, Hugging Face can see the IP address of the request. Verbatim sends nothing about you or your files, and it makes no other network requests.
Purchases and the free trial
The 7-day trial and the one-time purchase are handled by Apple through the Mac App Store. Verbatim reads Apple's record of your purchase on your Mac to decide whether the trial is running or the full version is unlocked. It does not see your payment details and stores no purchase information of its own. Apple's handling of purchases is described in Apple's privacy policy.
What stays on your Mac
Verbatim keeps your preferences and any models you chose to download in its own sandboxed folder. Transcripts exist only where you save them. Deleting the app removes its folder. Each downloaded model also has a Delete button in Verbatim's Settings if you want to free space while keeping the app.
Your rights
Because no personal data is collected, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. If you have a question about this policy, write to support@verbatim-transcription.com.
Changes
If a future version of Verbatim ever changes what it does with your data, this page and the app's App Store listing will say so before that version ships.
